Intelligence Gathering

Intelligence Gathering is used to support Security and Risk Operations where data and information is collected to analyse for insights, then turned into actionable and usable intelligence to help guide the operation.

The intelligence gathering process attempts to answer four key questions:

  • What is happening now?

  • Why is it happening?

  • So what, i.e. what does it mean?

  • What may happen next / in the future?

Why is Intelligence Gathering useful?

Intelligence Gathering provides a real sense of operational situational awareness, it helps to shape decision making required for immediate action and to identify emerging risks that may impact on your operational plan or mission statement.

Chaos reigns in times of crisis, and intelligence gathering is all about providing a simple source of the key information to help make desicions as you navigate through the incident, which supports your overarching plan and helps direct your tactical approach.

Intel is useful where there are real or perceived emerging risks that need to be understood and from which good decisions can be made.

What Intelligence Gathering provider should I use?

Look for an Intelligence Gathering provider you can trust, who has the experience to be able to analyse the information and pull the key insights and intelligence to make your security and risk operation a success.

A good provider will understand your requirements and know the right places to go, and right people to talk to, to start to get a complete Intel picture. They should also have a solid platform and method for their Intelligence Gathering, so you know the Intel they produce is built from solid foundations.

An initial discussion around approach with the provider should allow you to understand their experience and get a good feel for Trust.

QRisk Intelligence Gathering

QRisk has based its Intelligence Gathering and collection method on the NZ governments Coordinated Incident Management System (CIMS) guidance to provide a detailed understanding of the incident and the ways in which the incident could potentially develop.

We have gathered data and information and turned that into usable intelligence in the following consulting and operational environments

  • Natural disaster to understand the extent of vulnerable customers

  • In retail environments to understand growing trends of angry and aggressive customers to in turn understand the drivers for that behaviour

  • Corporate settings where threats were made against staff and executives - examining huge amounts of customer data knowing that the offender was within that

  • Large scale fraud and intimidation to better understand suspect profiles

  • Adverse media attention to understand the extend of disaffected groups within the community

If you want to know more about our Intelligence Gathering analytical tools, methodologies and the QRisk intelligence process then please give us a call so we can broadly understand your need and discuss how we can help.
