Clients and friends of clients often have that gut feeling that something is not quite right with their off shore investment, or that online relationship. That niggly gut feel is the first risk flag. It needs to be raised, so you can look a little bit deeper. Our QRisk Investigative advice is to follow that initial gut feel.
Raise the Flags
When you are close to the relationship or the investment, you want to believe it’s true, infact clients are looking for signs that make it look right and not for signs that show it’s wrong - its psychology 101 and its in the scammers playbook. They are good at it, they build trust and provide information that makes it look real to the victim.
As private investigators with a particular expertise into frauds and scams its our job to step the client back and raise all of the risk flags. Those flags, that when combined they paint a pretty compelling picture that the online relationship or investment opportunity is in fact fraudulent. Its not real - its a scam.
Piece it together
The flags are but smaller parts of a bigger story and they need to be pieced together. Alone, its an unconvincing story and the victim at the centre will quickly dismiss them and move back to a false reality. It’s not until we put them together, that the story becomes more real. It’s a little like the jig saw puzzle, you don’t see the picture until most of the pieces are together and laid out in front you.
It’s the same with our private investigation report. The risk flag investigation report (RFI) is exactly that. When the flags are explained and written down and supported by investigative evidence, it becomes compelling as to what the truth is or is most likely to be.
